Sound Insulation Testing

The Building Regulations Approved Document E (ADE) came into force in 2003. At the same time new regulations introduced pre-completion sound insulation testing of dwellings and flats, to demonstrate compliance with Approved Document E.

Alpha Acoustics is an ANC Registered Organisation for sound insulation testing. Alpha’s sound insulation testing service is designed to suit your needs. It is cost effective, and often available at short notice. Alpha will provide sound insulation test certificates within a few days.

Preliminary Advice – before work begins

If you are not confident in specifying Sound Insulation works or are worried about failing the sound test, Alpha will specify the materials and methods you need to use. See FAQs.

During works – advice and testing

If the development is substantial, with a large number of similar walls and floors to built or upgraded, Alpha can test your first few examples to give you confidence before completion the remainder. See FAQs.

Robust Detail Departures

As a large developer you may have opted for ‘Robust Details’ solutions to meet the Regulation’s requirements. On occasions the design or build may result in a departure from a Robust Detail. Alpha will perform tests to ‘fill-in’ these ‘gaps’

Remedial advice and retesting

From time to time a wall or floor will not meet the required standard. Alpha will help you to overcome the problem, providing remedial advice and if necessary a retest, at reduced rates.
